This workshop will have new projects from those taught in previous complete beginners workshops but it is aimed at beginners and those wanting to refresh their techniques. I will demonstrate techniques to create texture with watercolour by applying: cling film, salt, masking fluid and indentation. Washes, layering, transparency and opacity will be explained. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to practice the techniques and use them in some small paintings. There will be handouts to take home covering the techniques used and no previous experience is necessary. Paper, brushes and paint will be provided on the day. You will need to bring a ceramic palette or an old white plate for mixing colours on, a pencil, 2 large jam jars, paper towel, masking tape and if possible an A3 sized board to tape your paper to. Don't worry if you don't have a board I will have some spare. You are welcome to arrive from 9.45am. Demonstrations will start at 10am and we finish at 4pm. Please bring your own lunch, there is a shop locally if you need to buy lunch. Free tea, coffee and biscuits (including gluten free) will be available all day. The workshop will be held in the large light and airy Wilkinson room at St John's Church, Hills Road, Cambridge. There is free parking at the rear of the Church which is accessible from Blinco Grove. The Church is a 15min walk from the railway station. If you have any questions please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org Reviews from previous Complete Beginners Workshops: "Thank you so much Denise! It's been a brilliant learning experience. Your explanations have been crystal clear and your guidance extremely helpful and encouraging." Maggie "A very constructive days painting in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, thoroughly recommend it" Stephen "Brilliant day with masses of info to absorb" Ann "Pre-workshop communication is excellent and Denise has it all sorted so that you can borrow or buy what you need on the day. When you arrive you find you have your own table with various things laid out ready to go, and I wonder if the calm, low-key structure throughout the day is in fact what backs you up when "going into the unknown" as in spreading surprisingly watery paint on very wet paper. Superb workshops in every way." from Jane Frances . For further reviews see the review tab on the main menu.
